A Slip of the Tongue | ||||||||||||
Commissioner Colfax slips up in front of witnesses saying, "...WALT STORNETTA WANTS THOSE PEOPLE AND THEIR PARROTS REMOVED BEFORE THE END OF THE YEAR." | ||||||||||||
(More notes) After the $1120 was paid for an appeal to planning and zoning, our problem was discussed at at least 4 Board of Supervisors meetings, as there are notes saying 'closed session; discussion of litigation; one case". Of course, as this is an off-agenda item, it need not be stated for the record whose case.....and then on December 7, l999, in front of several reporters and other witnesses, our District 5 commissioner, J. David Colfax, DEMANDED AN EMERGENCY BOARD MEETING for December20, l999, as WALT STORNETTA WANTS THOSE PEOPLE AND THEIR PARROTS REMOVED BEFORE THE END OF THE YEAR. Now the cat is officially out of the bag, and we, having little time to prepare, must spend every waking moment gathering our witnesses, planning a strategy, and working with being "fast tracked" by the county. Part of the reason for this is that they knew we were not yet prepared, Christmas was coming and many witnesses would be away from their normal routines over the holidays, vis a vis unavailable in person; our attorneys were finalizing another case, and we had been in conversations with the District Attorney to meet on 2/1/2000 to resolve the matter....effectively going around planning and zoning. Merry Christmas from the county of Mendocino. |
