Now, dear reader, this gets complicated. I called my attorneys in Arizona, who were repeatedly denied a copy of the complaint. At their suggestion, we employed an attorney here, in Ukiah, the firm of Oglesby, Basik, Carter and Behnke, who originally took our case, and then refused to continue, stating a conflict of interest. It seems that a Walt Stornetta (Stornetta Dairy Farms) leases the turkey farm to Nicholas Turkeys. It also seems that Nicholas was moving from that location BEFORE we arrived on the scene, and make such a convenient 'fall guy' for them to blame for their moving. If they could blame our arrival, call us diseased, and call us smugglers, they could break their lease.

As it unfolds, the lease may or may not even exist.....and was up 12/31/99 anyway. If Stornetta can use his power over this county's personnel, from the Board of Supervisors up to the top, and can get them to remove us and our birds FROM OUR OWN LAND, then he can say to his tenant, 'Now what is your excuse for leaving:??? Some background work regarding turkeys has turned up factual matter dating to l992, indicating a down turn in the industry in general, and a specific downsizing of Nicholas-Turkey production.
